NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN:  To enter, log onto: www.freshpreserving.com  and complete the online entry form or to enter by mail, you may download the entry form available at www.freshpreserving.com   Mail your recipe to World Freezer Jam Contest, 2155 W. Chesterfield Blvd, Springfield, MO 65807. All mail entries must be postmarked by June 29, 2007, 11:59 PM and received by July 2, 2007, 11:59 PM Central Time ("CT").
SPONSOR: The Contest is sponsored by Hearthmark LLC., d/b/a Jarden Home Brands, 345 South High Street, Suite 201, Muncie Indiana 47305-2398 ("Sponsor") and administered by Noble Communications Company, , 2155 West Chesterfield Blvd, Springfield, MO 65807 ("Noble").ELIGIBILITY: The Ball®  World Freezer Jam Contest (the "Contest") is open only to legal residents of the fifty (50) United States (including the District of Columbia) age 18 or over at time of entry. Employees of Jarden Corporation its affiliates and subsidiaries, Noble Communications Company, their affiliates, subsidiaries, as well as the immediate family (spouse, parents, siblings, and children) and household members of each such employee are not eligible. Food professionals such as chefs, food writers, food home economists, caterers, dietitians, nutritionists or anyone else that creates recipes for pay is not eligible. The Contest is subject to federal, state, and local laws and regulations and is void where prohibited by law.

The Contest is intended for viewing in the fifty (50) United States and the District of Columbia only and shall only be construed and evaluated according to the laws of the State of Indiana.

There is no limit on the number of entries per person for each unique recipe, but an entrant may only win one time and receive a total of one prize per household address, email address, and/or person residing in the same household. The Sponsor shall have the right to edit, adapt, and publish any or all of the recipes submitted, and may use the recipes in any media without attribution or compensation to the entrant, his or her successors or assigns, or any other entity. Submission of an entry in the Contest constitutes entrant’s irrevocable assignment, conveyance, and transference to the Sponsor of all right, title, and interest in the entry, including, without limitation, all copyrights. By submitting a recipe, entrant warrants that his/her recipe: (a) is his/her own original creation; (b) was developed solely by the entrant (c) does not infringe any other person’s or entity’s rights; and (c) has not been submitted previously in a recipe contest of any kind or won any award; (d) the right to submit is not restricted in any way.

ENTRY PERIOD:  The Contest begins at 12:00 a.m. Central Time ("CT") on March 1, 2007, and ends at 11:59 p.m. CT on June 30, 2007 (the "Contest Period"). Entries submitted prior to or after the Contest Period will be automatically disqualified.

HOW TO ENTER THE CONTEST:  Send us your original recipe using Ball®  World Freezer Jam online or by U.S. Postage, in any of the following formats:

  • Video or Sound Recording on DVD, VHS or CD (mail only)
  • Electronic WAV or MP3 files on CD (mail only)
  • Photographs - Digital (on-line only)
  • Photographs - Hard copies (mail only) Rolls of film and negatives will not be accepted.
  • Scrap Booking project sheet (on-line or mail)
  • Written essay or poem (on-line or mail)


All entries become the property of Sponsor. Receipt will not be acknowledged and recipes will not be returned, regardless of the format submitted. Sponsor is not responsible for late, lost, stolen, misaddressed, postage due, misdirected or illegible entries. Sponsor is not responsible for technical or computer failures, errors or data lost for any kind, lost or unavailable Internet connections, or failed, incomplete, garbled or deleted computer transmissions, inability to access any Website or on-line service, or any other malfunction.

RECIPE REQUIREMENTS:  Recipes must satisfy each of the following requirements:

  • the recipe may not have previously won any award or prize.
  • the recipe must use Ball®  Simple Creations®  No Cook Freezer Jam Fruit Pectin
  • the recipe must be named using words that describe it accurately. Do not use fanciful        names that could infringe on another party’s trademarks.
  • list all ingredients with exact measurements in the order they will be used in the recipe.
  • write preparation directions as a list of steps or in paragraph form in complete sentences, including specifics on what ingredients are used in what order,
  • indicate the size of pots, pans, bowls, and other preparation elements, if any.
  • indicate exact cooking times and temperatures, as appropriate.
  • state the number of servings the recipe is designed to create.
  • state the size of the servings the recipe is designed to produce.


By entering, participants agree to forfeit to Sponsor all rights to the recipe by unconditionally assigning and transferring to Sponsor all right, title, interest and claim to the entries or any element(s) thereof including the copyright. Sponsor reserves the right to edit, adapt, copyright and publish any and all entries, and may use the entries in any media without attribution or further compensation to entrant.

Sponsor is not responsible for typographical errors, omitted ingredients or any other errors in recipes submitted by entrants. Entries not complying with all rules are subject to automatic disqualification.

AGREEMENT TO OFFICIAL RULES:  Participation in the Contest constitutes entrant’s full and unconditional agreement to and acceptance of these Official Rules and the decisions of the Sponsor, which is final and binding. Winning a prize in this contest is contingent upon fulfilling all requirements set forth herein.

JUDGING:  On or about August 1, 2007 all eligible entries will be judged by a professional panel of consultants selected by Sponsor and Noble (the "Judges"), whose decisions are final, based equally on the following criteria (the "Judging Criteria"): 1- Taste – 2 Creativity – 3 Serving Suggestions – 4 Gel.

Each receipe chosen and ranked as a finalist shall then be prepared and judged on Taste (40%), Creative Appeal (30%) Serving Suggestion (20%) Gel (10%). Decisions of judges are final and binding in all respects. Potential winners will be notified by phone, mail/or e-mail.

PRIZES:  One (1) Grand Prize: The Grand Prize winner will receive a one weekend (Friday-Sunday) class at The French Pastry School in Chicago, IL or a four (4) day trip for four (4) to Walt Disney World Resort®  Epcot®  . Approximate Retail Value: $4,000.00

Twenty-Five (25) Second Prizes: The top twenty-five recipe entries will receive a one (1) year supply of Ball®  FreshPreserving™ products. Approximate Retail Value: $300.00

Best Serving Suggestion. The best serving suggestion will receive one (1) Five hundred dollar ($500.00) Williams-Sonoma®  Gift Card. Approximate Retail Value: $500.00

Prizes are not transferable or refundable and must be accepted as awarded. No substitution may be made, except by the Sponsor, who reserves the right to substitute a prize (or any component thereof) with another prize (or component thereof) of equal or greater value if a prize is not available for any reason as determined by the Sponsor in its sole discretion. Winners are responsible for any and all taxes and fees associated with receipt or use of a prize. Winners grant Sponsor the right to use their names, images, likeness, voices and biographical materials, as well as winners’ entries for advertising, publicity, and promotion purposes including without limitation, online announcements, without additional compensation, unless prohibited by law. Prizes must be redeemed within one (1) year.

REQUIREMENTS OF THE POTENTIAL WINNER:  Except where prohibited, the potential winner will be required to complete and return an affidavit of eligibility and liability/publicity release (the "Affidavit/Release") within seven (7) days of being notified. If the potential winner fails to sign and return the Affidavit/Release within the required time period, an alternate entrant will be selected in his/her place according to the above criteria.

GENERAL CONDITIONS:  In the event that the operation, security, or administration of the Contest is impaired in any way for any reason, including, but not limited to fraud, virus, or other technical problem, the Sponsor may, in its sole discretion, either: (a) suspend the Contest to address the impairment and then resume the Contest in a manner that best conforms to the spirit of these Official Rules; or (b) award the prize according to the Judging Criteria from among the eligible entries received up to the time of the impairment. The Sponsor reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any individual they find to be tampering or have been tampering with the entry process or the operation of the Contest or to be acting in violation of these Official Rules or in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner. Any attempt by any person to undermine the legitimate operation of the Contest may be a violation of criminal and civil law, and, should such an attempt be made, the Sponsor reserves the right to seek damages from any such person to the fullest extent permitted by law. The Sponsors’ failure to enforce any term of these Official Rules shall not constitute a waiver of that provision.

If for any reason this contest is not capable of running as planned due to infection by computer virus , bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, electrical failures, or any other causes beyond the control of Sponsor which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this contest. Sponsor reserves the right at its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process, and to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the contest. Sponsor assumes no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorized access to, or alteration of, entries. Sponsor is not responsible for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or telephone lines, computer on-line systems, servers, or providers, computer equipment, software, failure of any e-mail or entry to bereceived by Jarden Corporation on account of technical problems, human error or trafficcongestion on the Internet or at any Website, or any combination thereof, including any injury or damage to participant's or any other person's computer relating to or resulting from participation in this contest or downloading any materials in this contest. CAUTION: ANY ATTEMPT TO DELIBERATELY DAMAGE ANY WEBSITE OR UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THE CONTEST IS A VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL and CIVIL LAWS. SHOULD SUCH AN ATTEMPT BE MADE, SPONSOR RESERVES THE RIGHT TO SEEK DAMAGES OR OTHER REMEDIES FROM ANY SUCH PERSON(S) RESPONSIBLE FOR THE ATTEMPT TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW. In the event of a dispute as to the identity of a winner based on an e-mail address, the winning entry will be declared to be the authorized account holder of the e-mail address submitted at time of entry.Authorized account holder is defined as the natural person who is assigned to an e-mail address by an Internet access provider, on-line service provider or other organization (e.g., business, educational, institution, etc.) that is responsible for assigning e-mail addresses for the domain associated with the submitted e-mail address.

RELEASE AND LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITY:  By participating in the Contest, entrants agree to release and hold harmless the Sponsor, Noble Communications Company, and their respective officers, directors, employees, and agents (the "Released Parties") from and against any claim or cause of action arising out of participation in the Contest or receipt or use of any prize, including, but not limited to: (a) unauthorized human intervention in the Contest; (b) technical errors related to computers, servers, providers, or telephone or network lines; (c) printing errors; (d) lost, late, postage-due, misdirected, or undeliverable mail; (e) errors in the administration of the Contest or the processing of entries; or (f) injury or damage to persons or property which may be caused, directly or indirectly, in whole or in part, from entrant’s participation in the Contest or receipt of any prize. Entrant further agrees that in any cause of action, the Released Parties’ liability will be limited to the actual out-of-pocket cost and expenses actually incurred to participate in the Contest, and in no event shall the Released Partiesbe liable for attorney’s fees. Entrant waives the right to claim any damages whatsoever,including, but not limited to, punitive, consequential, direct, or indirect damages.

Except where prohibited, entrant agrees that any and all disputes, claims, and causes of action arising out of, or connected with, the Contest or any prize awarded shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, and exclusively by the appropriate court located in the State of Indiana. All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules, entrant’s rights and obligations, or the rights and obligations of the Sponsor in connection with the Contest, shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with, the laws of the State of Indiana, without giving effect to any choice of law or conflict of law rules (whether of the State of Indiana or any other jurisdiction), which would cause the application of the laws of any jurisdiction other than the State of Indiana.

WINNERS LIST:  Winners names will be available after August 15, 2007 and posted at www.freshpreserving.com   or send a self-addressed, stamped envelope to: Winners List, World Freezer Jams Contest, Dept. 2155 W. Chesterfield Blvd, Springfield, MO 65807. VT residents may omit return postage.

The French Pastry School is affiliated with the City Colleges of Chicago and is accredited by the Illinois Community College Board. The French Pastry School is not the Sponsor of the Contest and is not responsible for the Contest or its administration.
