Preserving Method: Freezing

  1. PUREE basil, garlic, walnuts, Asiago and lemon juice in a food processor or blender until smooth.  While processor is running, slowly pour in olive oil and add salt and pepper.
  2. POUR pesto into Ball Frozen Herb Starter tray, cover and freeze until ready to use. 

QUICK TIP:  To THAW, remove cubes from tray and defrost in refrigerator or at room temperature.  To thaw quickly, place in a microwave-safe measuring cup and microwave on HIGH 15-20 seconds until softened.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nifty item - so handy! I discovered these at Walmart last year. Bought two of them -- one for myself and one for daughter&son-in-law. It's so handy - for pesto, lemon-juice cubes, lime, zest, grated ginger -- any small ingredient to be frozen in small quantity, yet easily accessible. Perfect size, too. I'd like a few more, but can't seem to find them this year. Any suggestions?
