 Post subject: Recycling Lids and Rings

Does anyone here recycle old used canning lids and rusty rings? I include these in the recycling with scrap metal but wasn't sure if I was supposed to. No one has ever told me to to do it so I am curious what others do and recommend.

I toss my flats into the recycling bin. It's metal and can be recycled. The rings too, but I haven't tossed any of them yet.

Yes, me too - I just toss them into the metal recycling.

I recycle mine but really am not sure about the lids because of the rubber seal. One of these days, I'll ask my recycling center.

When metal is melted down, any foreign residue is skimmed off the top.
