11# pressure is the "minimum" for a dial gauge and goes to 12# at 2001 feet. There is a minor advantage of using a dial gauge for higher altitudes since the pressure increase is less. But one still have the need and problem of regular testing of the gauge, which is difficult for most casual home canners.
A rocker gauge is 10# and has to jump to 15# above 1,000 feet.
