:? I still have no answer to my question about the odor of the lids. Ball help line is certain that they do not contain BPA. Beyond that there was no explanation for the odor emited from the lids. I was asked to send one to them so they can check it. We will see. . . Currently there is no odor present. Puzzle. . . :?

Thanks for that info. Too bad it's so difficult to find out exactly what things are made out of. lol.

Since the odor dissipated I would tend to believe the original box or case was exposed to something in the warehouse/truck/store and they retained that "aroma" for awhile. Still not good, but washing or rinsing in water would clean them of it. If it were the seals or something in the lid itself, it would not go away.

while we're talking about the new silver lids again, are they phasing out the old ones and only making these new ones? I haven' tried them yet, but after all the negative reviews I've seen, I'm not too hip on that idea. I guess I just don't like change always being forced on me left and right. If it aint broke, why fix it?
