A speedy way to preserve tart Granny Smith apples, this no-cook method takes the work out of jam. * Preserving apples is best done in late summer and fall when apples are seasonally fresh and can be bought direct from a local farm or farmers’ market. Apples out of season are actually cold stored from last year and lose their nutrients and pectins over the storage process.
