Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it! When I first looked at this pump... I decided to read the other reviews. I ordered 2 pumps, which I just recieved today. I did release the pump BEFORE I placed it in the top and ring of the jar and putting the holder screw on. I also found I had to cut off about an inch of the tubing so it would fit the jar nicely. I live in an old house (Built in 1832) and wanted vintage look not new and shiny... with this pump and it's accessories and my purple collector jar... I got what I was looking for... Thank you! To Release the pump head... Gently hold the section of the pump in your hand or between two fingers and gently turn the pump head until it releases... you don't need to force it. To cut the tubing... use a crafting knife or box cutter with a sharp blade. Cut the tubing a bit at a time until it just barely hits the bottom of the jar when fully assembled. I cut mine on a V. I hope this helps others.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Fighting Losing Battle with 2 Pump Lid Insert Kits I purchased 2 of the kits to make soap pumps for my mom and aunt for Christmas; however, I can't get them to fit into the pint jars. I, first, fought with them to get the pump tops to unlock, as another reviewer had issues with, but I think that it was because I was trying to figure it out without the kit being on the jar - so it was a little harder to figure out the unlocking process (and all the connecting parts are quite stiff). The pump tubes are longer than the jars are tall and not flexible at all. I ended up not giving the jars as gifts and was wondering if this is normal for the kits and should I really force the kit to fit the pint jar? Even if I can force the lids onto the jars, the tubing will be curled up the side and not be able to pump soap once it got down to that area of the jar; too, I worry my mom and aunt won't be able to get the lids back on properly when they open them to refill the liquid soap. I think I should go ahead and cut the tubing so that it fits as shown in product picture, at least they would be usable if I do (hopefully). Overall, I love the IDEA of the pump lid kits, but am disappointed that they didn't work properly and that I may have to alter them myself in order to make them usable. Of all the Ball products I've used over the years, this kit is the only one that I've had any issue with. Maybe my pump lid kits came from a quality control-overlooked batch?

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Neat idea - but the lid and band rust Bought the pump lid insert and while the pump works the lid and band were rusted within a week. My husband measured the diameter of the hole, took a plastic lid that fit my regular mouth jar, drilled and hole, fit the pump in that hole, and now we have a jar of dish soap that doesn't rust. Recommend that you make the lids out of plastic and sell those with the pump, not out of metal.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from wonderful! I bought this item and use it for dispensing hand soap. I really like it. The only problem I had was that it was very hard for me to pull the pump up to open. Finally I did, and it works great.
