Rated 2 out of 5 by from I buy a new one every few years, unfortunately this edition is not up to usual standards, the index in the back does not match the information inside. Check out pepper listings and you will see what I mean, but any time you are contemplating canning you should have a copy of one of these guides. It will save you time, money, and disappointment in the long run.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Book I do not have the newest version, but I do have 2 of your older books. My mom & grandmother taught me to can as a child. Then bought me the 1969 edition when I left home. I used it faithfully for years, then quit canning for many years. I got back into it in 2009 & bought that edition. I noticed not much had changed. Still the same great recipes and advice. I have been out of it since 2009 & am getting back into it again (3rd time!). Can't wait to get a new edition!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for beginners! Love this book. It is so well written and easy to follow. Pictures are useful to refer to. Was a little familiar with canning since my Mother canned; but, I had never actually done any canning myself. Highly recommend this book.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Disappointed I am new to canning and wanted a good guide to the process. However my first three attempts have been very disappointing. Dill pickles were way too salty, bread and butter pickles and relish were way too sweet. Looks like this is going to be a trial and error process. Info in book is quite good, just not having much luck in satisfying my taste buds.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Glad I got it! Sure, there are plenty of recipes online...but in my opinion, nothing beats a good old fashioned recipe book. It's a lot more convenient too. Loads of great recipes. You won't be disappointed.

When I picked up some more canning supplies 2 months ago, I noticed the new edition and bought it also. At $10 it is definitely affordable for newbies and experienced canners.
