The drain spout also enables this item to be used as an electric beverage urn, perfect for dispensing hot tea, cider or cocoa at your next party.

Cook up a storm without using the stove, by conveniently using this electric cooker to steam, simmer, boil, or blanch. It can be used as a stockpot for pastas, soups, and stews, or as a steamer for vegetables and seafood. Heat-resistant rubber-coated handles on the cooker and lid offer a comfortable non-slip grip. The tight-fitting glass lid allows you to monitor the cooking process without losing heat and moisture. Rated 3 out of 5 by from Love everything but the rack! I love that this allows me to can on the countertop and safely dump hot water afterward. I do not love that the rack is too widely spaced to easily handle small jelly jars. If I have more than 3 or 4, which fit near the center, I find at least half of them tipped over at the end of the canning process. This would be a 5 star product with a rack that functions well for all jar sizes!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Mostly great features I have had my canner for about one year. I really like it except for the canner rack. It is flimsy and I have a problem with my jelly jars falling over because the rack is flimsy. It doesn't cover the bottom. I have been trying to find replacement parts. Walmart is out of stock and Amazon just doesn't show it. I would like a more substantial canner rack.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from DO NOT BUY!! I received one for a birthday gift. The idea is great. But I have tried several times to use it and the water never boils. I turn the temp knob up to high and after waiting for one hour I gave up. I would have returned it, but it was a gift. So disappointed to have it just taking up space in my house.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Watch out for spewing water! I bought this electric canner after using it in a Master Food Preserver course. It works great and is a great addition to a stovetop canner if you are canning large quantities. But buyer beware if you are canning quart jars. DO NOT fill the canner up to the "Max Fill Line"--which covers quart jars. I made that mistake and my countertop and cabinets were covered in water that spewed out the front and back of the canner. If you turn the canner heat down the rolling boil stops and you obviously don't want that.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointed I bought this two years ago with high hopes of not needing to use my stove for a hot water bath and to not heat up the house quite so much. The first summer I used it, it was great!! It kept a rolling boil all the time and I had not troubles at all with it. Last summer it worked good for the first couple of batches I did but then it would quit boiling midway through my cycle of, so I resorted back to my stove to finish out. This year, I am in the middle of canning pickles and I had to resort back to my stove again. I do 1-2 bushel of pickles and a bushel of tomatoes too. For that I spent on this, I would like to think that it would last for years and not cause trouble. I seen that you could order a base as a replacement part and it is not available online from Ball but they said to go to Walmart and I did that and no luck. I was hoping this would be an inexpensive try to get it back to full working order so I could use this without having to worry. No such luck!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Convenient, reliable and easy to use I’ve had the canner for a year and a half and have used it countless times. Today I made Pineapple, mango, peach salsa using one of the prepackaged spice packs I picked up at Walmart on clearance. I’ve never had a problem setting the pot on the base, I just do it carefully and make sure to align everything and press firmly with the handles to seat it. My home has very hard water so I use two tablespoons of vinegar in the canner water AFTER all the jars are filled, lidded and in the pot to cut deposits on the jars and in the pot. I do get build up of calcium at the bottom of the pot so after three uses or so I soak paper towels in vinegar and the deposits come off easily. Using the spigot to drain the pot is a no brainer. I use a thick wood cutting board under the pot to raise it up higher than the edge of my sink. With the spigot hanging over the edge there is enough clearance to drain it. If I don’t get it close enough to clear the edge I wedge a cookie sheet, plate or similar item under the spigot to carry the water down. I use bbq tongs to loosen the plug if the water is still hot. All in all I am really happy with it. I too have a glass cooktop and am reluctant to use it for canning as all of my large canning pots don’t meet the stove manufacturer specs for glass top use. I bought a green, plastic multi jar size rack (Amazon) to put on the bottom instead of using the included wire rack which I found to be unstable. I’ve also collected all types of canning jars and tools at thrift stores so I’m never lacking in the proper equipment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from New Canner - Amazing and easy to use I bought this as it looked much easier than having on the stove. I also have a glass cooktop. This year is my first attempt at canning, amd anytime a new fruit is in season...,I get all giddy....more canning! I wish I would have found this item before as now that I have started canning, I am now addicted. This product does everything I could ask for! Keeping jars sterilized in the water, and then getting to full roll boil in a few minutes. Thanks to this canner, I will be a canner for life. It took away the fear I had with doing it on the stove in regular canner. Raspberry season now! Go out and splurge on this, you won't regret it! I have 2 teen boys that eat a lot, and knowing I will have canned goods for the winter (yummy strawberries), my grocery bills will be less! I also have had no issues with the unit whatsoever, but I do notice white buildup on the inside and on the bottom. No biggie. Love, love LOVE!
