Cherry Jam - Jam Maker


Preserving Method: Water Bath Canning

  1. WASH, stem and pit cherries. Coarsely chop cherries using kitchen scissors or chef’s knife, and then crush with a potato masher. Measure required quantity of crushed cherries and remaining ingredients for your recipe; set aside.
  2. SPRINKLE pectin evenly over bottom of the Pot fitted with the Stirrer. Add crushed cherries evenly over pectin. Pour lemon juice over cherries. Add butter/margarine to help reduce foaming.
  3. PRESS jam button – the cook time will automatically default to 21 minutes. Press enter. WAIT 4 minutes for appliance to sound 4 short beeps indicating that it is time to add sugar. Add sugar gradually while Stirrer continues running. Place the Glass Lid on the Pot.
  4. THE APPLIANCE will continue to automatically stir your ingredients while it cooks. Stay within earshot of the Jam & Jelly Maker, the appliance will beep again at the end of the process signaling jam cooking is complete. Press cancel, unplug the appliance and immediately remove Glass Lid.
  5. REMOVE Stirrer using a pot holder. Skim foam, if necessary, from top of jam.
  6. PRESERVE the cherry jam immediately, using 1 of the 3 ways listed here.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tart cherries work well too! Went cherry picking at a local farm and figured I would try this recipe for jam. Works wonderfully! Great taste and consistency. Can't wait to try the recipe for cherry pie filling too (as you can tell I got carried away with my cherry picking!!)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to Use/Great Results This Jam and Jelly Maker never ceases to amaze me. It is so easy to use. It does all the work (stirring) for me. I love it and highly recommend it to anyone who likes or is afraid to make jams and jellies. I just finished up 4 batches of Sweet Cherry Jam. It is delicious. Thanks FreshTech for a fantastic tool for my kitchen.
