Jam Maker Strawberry Jam

Preserving Method: Water Bath Canning

  1. WASH strawberries in cool, running water and drain. Remove stems and hulls. Crush berries one layer at a time using a potato masher. Measure required quantity of crushed berries and remaining ingredients for your recipe; set aside.
  2. SPRINKLE pectin evenly over bottom of the Pot fitted with the Stirrer. Add crushed strawberries evenly over pectin. Add butter/margarine to help reduce foaming.
  3. PRESS jam button – the cook time will automatically default to 21 minutes. Press enter.
  4. WAIT 4 minutes for appliance to sound 4 short beeps indicating that it is time to add sugar. Add sugar gradually while Stirrer continues running. Place the Glass Lid on the Pot.
  5. THE APPLIANCE will continue to automatically stir your ingredients while it cooks. Stay within earshot of the Jam & Jelly Maker, the appliance will beep again at the end of the process signaling jam cooking is complete. Press cancel, unplug the appliance and immediately remove Glass Lid.
  6. REMOVE Stirrer using a pot holder. Skim foam, if necessary, from top of jam.
  7. PRESERVE the strawberry jam immediately, using 1 of the 3 ways listed here.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No Fail! I bought this a 4-5 years ago and it is still going strong! I just pulled it out today for raspberry jam and it is perfect! No more standing over a hot stove stirring :) My only wish is that it made a bigger batch!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent! Love it. This machine is wonderful. I never made jam until this year. It was easy and tasted delicious. I also like there is a second recipe available showing if you only want about half the sugar. This is especially useful when the fruit is extra sweet itself. Love it. Would recommend this to anyone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Never buy jam again I bought this jam maker last year. It has performed perfectly each time I have used it. Both fresh fruit and frozen fruit work. In the summer it does not heat up the kitchen. I also use the Ball freshtech electric water bath canner. So nice to make small batches with reliable appliances. The recipe above to which this review is attached has a major flaw. The stirring arm is not removed until the end.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This recipe alone is worth the $$ of the jam maker I've been telling everyone who comes through my register with canning supplies about this appliance. Yes, I'm hopeful that they will add more reduced sugar recipes or offer canned tomato sauces in the future, but for this recipe alone it's worth the cost of the appliance. I watched my father make jam when I was a child, but I never helped. I grew up on homemade jam. We also buy jam from a local Amish family so we know what good quality homemade jam is. This was my first year making jam on my own & it couldn't be easier with this appliance. I used the reduced sugar strawberry jam recipe and it was a BREEZE! We used strawberries from a local pick-your-own farm & canned the jam. My husband and I have already worked our way through 2 half pints in the last month and a half...and that's only because we're stingy with it. The reduced sugar recipe really lets the bright sunshine strawberry flavor shine through. So far the strawberry recipe is the only one I've tried - but it will pay for itself in just two seasons with this recipe alone...it's really that delicious.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No fail jam, quick & easy I received this as a Christmas gift & had to wait for my strawberries to come in & use it. This machine makes jam so easy & fun. I made 120 jars of jam with this machine, this year. All different combinations. Strawberry Balsamic, Strawberry Rhubarb, Strawberry Pineapple, Strawberry Blueberry, Strawberry Lemonade, Blueberry Lime. Had a friend come over & make a batch as well. So easy, now she wants one as well. It does make small batches, but that's ok. I don't need to "jam" all day long. It is "no fail" with makes it so nice to use. Friends & family are looking forward to a basket of jam at Christmas. Definitely a keeper. Cherries are starting, so that will be my next.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from AWESOME. HAD TO GET SECOND MAKER. I just loved this jam maker had to buy a second one so that I could do 2 batches at one time. Seasonal strawberries in for picking. Can't get any fresher than that. Total as of date 120 jars made. Planning on doing another 120 jars. Happy jamming.
